Moments of Liberation. 2011.
This is a series of paintings and typewritten text and the merging of the two via digital media. The pieces were printed on fabric. These pieces are an autobiographical narrative from 1997-1999 about moments in my life that led me to the beliefs and actions that are with me now.
Work in progress. 2013. 10' x 5'
this is a work in progress, begun at an artist residency at Johnson Studio Center, Johnson VT in the spring of 2013. This piece represents three female historical figures, playing in a street band, and responding to the increase in regulation of public space across the nation. During the creation process, I spent time with texts, speeches, and music by and about each of these women and brought that information into the process, while considering how each would approach the issue of public space. The completed piece will be shown and used to create dialogue around this issue. An accompanying essay is in process as well, and will be available during the public discourse on this painting.
